Jack Straws Lane, Oxford
Babylon Design were recommended for this job by a green building company which had rebuilt a dated house and knew that we were ecological in our approach to planting. The clients wanted a Japanese garden as the wife was from Japan and the husband loved the simplicity and restfulness.
The house itself had been renovated in a style that suited a Japanese garden. Yew hedging was used to screen off the road and the driveway from the front garden and form a backdrop for the planting. Ferns, bamboos and Japanese Maples were planted alongside splashes of seasonal colour to mark the seasons. Areas of moss were encouraged to grow under the trees and large rocks positioned in a graveled area as well as within the planting.
